![]() ![]() Green Lantern: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. Green Lantern In The Silver Age of Comics If you really want the background on how Hal Jordan got to where he is when Johns takes over, I’ve included a fast track to the mid-90’s Parallax saga, as well as some classic Green Lantern throughout DC history! This reading order centers on on Johns’ 2000’s era Green Lantern and extends into DC’s New 52 and DC Rebirth. In retrospect there’s some very on-the-nose writing from Johns, but I’ll never forget how exciting the expanded Green Lantern universe felt, and how much motivation one could find from Hal Jordan’s reestablished heroic will. This was primarily due to Geoff Johns’ extended time writing and revitalizing Green Lantern and the Lantern Corps in the 2000’s. While not a hot commodity it is a snapshot into American history and well worth the price. A GD 2.0 only brings $150 currently which is not very far off the $75it cost in 2015. A 6FN 6.0 can be purchased for the very reasonable sum of $500 compared to as low as $150 in 2009. This book is very affordable in all but the highest grades as there are over 2,000 issues registered with the CGC Census. Only two copies have surfaced graded NM/MT 9.8. This team kept the book a best seller for 10 years, until issue #76, when Denny O'Neil took over writing duties and relative newcomer Neil Adams added his refreshing and refined skill to the art chores. Authored by DC workhorses John Broome and Gardner Fox, what really made the series go over was the dynamic artwork of Gil Kane, who finally came into his own and took his place as a true comic master with his work on this title. Taking the cue from the 1940's character, they retained several of the elements of the original GL, but gave him a makeover including a whole universe of Green Lanterns!Ī proven winner, GL was given his own title in 1960.
